New Hampshire women's soccer felled by Stetson, 1-0

BURLINGTON, Vt. - The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team generated a 16-13 shot advantage but fell to Stetson University, 1-0, in Sunday afternoon's second-day action of the UVM Soccer Classic at Centennial Field.

Stetson (1-1-0) netted the only goal of the game when Carrie Lorenz scored on a blast from 35 yards at 58:23.

UNH (1-1-0) was led offensively by Chiara Best (Rose Valley, Pa.) and Kristin Kearney (Sandown, N.H.), both of whom recorded four shots. Liz MacKay (Scituate, Mass.) recorded three saves defending the Wildcat goal.

Stetson goalkeeper April Eilering turned aside all five UNH shots on goal to record the shutout.

UNH's Jackie Wishoski (Malden, Mass.), who scored two goals in the team's 3-0 victory against Iona College on Saturday, was named to the Vermont Soccer Classic All-Tournament Team.

New Hampshire returns to action next weekend at the James Madison Invitational with matches against West Virginia on Sept. 5 and Richmond (Sept. 7). The Wildcats' home opener is Sept. 10 vs. UMass. Game time is 7 p.m. at Bremner Field.
