DURHAM, N.H. –Chiara Best (Rose Valley, Pa.), a junior forward on the University of New Hampshire women’s soccer team, was named to the Soccer Buzz Northeast Region Third Team, the publication announced Thursday.
Best recorded a team-high six assists, as well as four game-winning goals, and was second on the team in both goals (12) and points (30). Her 30 points ranks second on UNH’s list of single-season superlatives and her 12 goals is tied for third. Best scored a goal in 11 of 21 games and had a point in 13 matches. Her season highlights included a five-point effort (two goals, assist) in UNH’s 7-2 first-round victory against Northeastern University in the America East Championships and her 50th career point.
Best’s other collegiate accolades include 2003 America East First Team, 2003 NEWISA Second Team, 2002 America East Second Team and America East All-Rookie Team in 2001. She has been named to the America East Academic Honor Roll all three years.
In three seasons, Best has 23 goals and 11 assists for 57 points. Those numbers rank fourth in both goals and points, as well as tied for eighth in assists.
