DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team played to a scoreless draw at the half against America East preseason favorite Boston University, but the Terriers netted two second-half goals to record Wednesday afternoon's 2-0 victory at Nickerson Field.
UNH is now 1-1-2 overall and 0-1-0 in America East while BU improved to 3-1-0, 2-0-0.
The Terriers took a 1-0 lead in the 68th minute on a tally by Ann Buckley, then Nicole Soules extended the advantage to two goals in the 73rd minute. Buckley's goal stopped UNH junior goalkeeper Kristen Ouellette's (Weatogue, Conn.) shutout streak at 342 minutes, 23 seconds. She had recorded consecutive shutouts and not surrendered a goal since the season opener vs. Tulsa.
Ouellette finished the game with seven saves. Her counterpart, Jessica Clinton, stopped five shots.
New Hampshire's next scheduled game is Sept. 18 (3:30 p.m.) at Holy Cross. The next home match for the Wildcats is Sept. 21 against Stony Brook. Game time at Lewis Field is 4 p.m.
