TOWSON, Md. - The University of New Hampshire and Towson University battled to a 0-0 tie in women's soccer action here this afternoon. The Wildcats now stand at 4-10-1 on the season and 1-4-1 in America East while Towson is now 8-6-1 overall and 3-2-1 in America East.
Neither side could find the back of the net through regulation or the two 15-minute overtime periods. The game was the first tie for the Wildcats since October 27, 1999, when UNH battled Providence to a 0-0 tie. The 'Cats were also involved in a scorless tie with Northeastern last season.
Towson outshot New Hampshire 24-7 in the contest. Angeline Alexakos (Bedford, N.H.) led the Wildcats with three shots.
Kristen Ouelette (Weatogue, Conn.) made nine saves for the Wildcats while going the distance in net, while Tina Steck made three saves for the Tigers.
New Hampshire concludes its weekend road trip at Delaware on Oct. 22. The next Wildcats' home game is Oct. 27 against Drexel University. Game time at Memorial Field is 3 p.m.
