UNH Women's Soccer Plays To Scoreless Tie

DURHAM, N.H. - In its final home game of the season, the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team battled to a scoreless tie against Providence College, Wednesday.

UNH (6-10-2) had plenty of scoring chances (20 shots), including a sequence in which the Wildcats hit the top crossbar on three consecutive shots. With less than five minutes remaining in regulation, Tara Foley (Springfield, Mass.) controlled a loose ball five feet from the goal and fired a shot off the crossbar. Kristin Cannistraro (West Newton, Mass.) returned the rebound, but the Providence goalie Shayna Ross deflected it off the crossbar. Foley kicked the loose ball over her left shoulder and once again, the ball slammed off the crossbar. Sarah Sargent (Glastonbury, Conn.) kicked the rebound out of bounds, wide right.

Ross picked up 10 saves for the Friars (6-9-1), while UNH junior goalkeeper Stephanie Springer (Solana Beach, Calif.) had four.
