DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team tied Northeastern University Sunday, 0-0. Wildcat senior forward Chatham Flynn (Pike, N.H.) had a chance to score with 30 second remaining in the second overtime, but was stuffed by Huskies goalkeeper Rachelle Paterson.
UNH (4-3-1, 0-1-1 America East) had several chances to score in both overtime periods, but came up empty each time. Sophomore Sara Sargent (Glastonbury, Conn.) received a pass in the box in the second overtime, but missed the open net with a wide left shot.
The game was played agressively with the teams combining for 33 fouls. The rough play prevented either team from getting anything going offensively and limited the number of shots on goal. NU (4-4-1, 1-0-1 America East) had only three shots on goal (two in the first half and one in the second) while UNH managed 12, including five in overtime.
UNH was hurt by seven offsides calls that negated several scoring opportunities.
UNH's next game is Friday, Oct. 1, at Vermont at 3:30 p.m.
