UNH Women's Soccer Shuts Out Harvard

DURHAM, N.H. - Junior goalkeeper Stephanie Springer (Solana Beach, Calif.) shut out Harvard University 1-0 Wednesday as the University of New Hampshire women's soccer team improved to 3-1.

The Wildcats' goal came in the first half when sophomore Angeline Alexakos (Bedford, N.H.) lofted a pass down the left side of the field for senior Chatham Flynn (Pike, N.H.). Flynn fired a shot that was deflected right to senior tri-captain Tara Foley (Springfield, Mass.), who put it in the back of the net, giving the 'Cats a 1-0 lead.

The single goal was enough for Springer who picked up her third win, tallying 11 saves. The shutout was the first of the season for Springer, who improved her goals against average to 0.92 and her save percentage to 0.875.

Harvard (2-1) had been undefeated coming into the game, coming of a 7-1 win against Tulane.

UNH's next game is Saturday against Ohio at a tournament at UConn. UNH plays West Virginia Sunday and then returns home for a match against Boston University on Friday, Sept. 24 at 4 p.m.
