ORONO, Maine - The University of New Hampshire women's soccer team (1-1-0) picked up its first win of the season Sunday with a 2-1 victory over Miami University (3-1-0). The game was played at the University of Maine in the second day of the Maine Tournament.
The Wildcats scored early when senior Nicole Coupland (Londonderry, N.H.) headed in a cross by sophomore Angeline Alexakos (Bedford, N.H.) three minutes into the game. Miami responded 10 minutes later when Allison McWhinney tallied.
The game-winner came at the 33:05 mark when the Miami goalkeeper saved a shot by senior Chatham Flynn (Pike, N.H.) only to have junior Jess Halas (Danbury, Conn.) collect the rebound and hit it into the back of the net.
UNH's next game is Wednesday at 3:30 p.m. at Holy Cross.
