MILLER RECORDS TOP-20 EFFORT AT EASTERN CUP OPENER

PRESQUE ISLE,
Maine – Dylan McGuffin (Concord,
N.H.) recorded two of the team’s four top-5 finishes as the
University of New Hampshire’s Nordic ski team competed at the
TD Bank Eastern Cup opener from Dec. 19-20.
McGuffin opened the weekend with third place in the men’s
sprint (1.2 kilometers) in a time of 2 minutes, 32.01 seconds.
Dan Guiney (Salt Lake City, Utah) also placed in
the top 10 with 10th place in 2:39.78.
The following day in the men’s classic (10K), McGuffin led
four Wildcats in the top 13 with second place at 32:10.7.
Michael Lessard (Greene, Maine) followed in fifth
place with a time of 32:47.9. Harrison Harb
(Contoocook, N.H.) completed the course in 33:03.5 to finish 11th
overall and Erik Lindgren (Pitea, Sweden) was 13th
in 33:14.9.
Liz Guiney (Park City, Utah) led the UNH
women’s squad with fifth place in Saturday’s sprint
competition. She completed the 1.2K in 3:09.3. Katie
Miller (Lenox, Mass.) recorded the team’s other
top-20 effort, as her time of 3:15.87 was the 15th fastest of the
day.
UNH opens the Eastern Intercollegiate Ski Association (EISA)
carnival season Jan. 15-16 at St. Lawrence University. The alpine
races will be held at Whiteface Mountain, whereas Mt. Van Hovenberg
is the site of the Nordic competition.
