DURHAM, N.H. – Kate Keagins (Bay Shore, N.Y.), a senior midfielder and captain on the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team, is one of seven nominees on the ballot for the 2012 America East Women's Lacrosse Fans' Choice Player of the Year award. Keagins was also a nominee in 2010 and 2011.
Voting, which is taking place on the league's Facebook page is open now and continues until 12 p.m. on April 30. The winners will be announced that afternoon.
Keagins has started 13 of 14 games this season and leads the team in goals (29), points (36), ground balls (28), caused turnovers (26) and draw controls (33). With those numbers, she leads the America East conference in caused turnovers per game (1.86) and is ranked 13th nationally in that statistic.
Keagins has seven multiple-goal efforts this year, and that includes a season-high five goals at Columbia University on April 18. She has 11 overall multiple-point games and established a season high of five points with four goals and an assist at nationally-ranked Stanford University on March 11.
Dating back to the 2011 season, Keagins has tallied a point in 19 consecutive games with 46 points (34g, 12a) in that span. She also has an active 17-game goal-scoring streak.
