CAMBRIDGE, Mass. -- Amber Casiano (South Windsor, Conn.), a freshman midfielder on the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team, was named America East Rookie of the Week for the third consecutive week on Monday.
Casiano recorded career highs in both goals (three) and points (four) in UNH's only game of the week, a 13-12 loss to the University at Albany on April 24; she was also credited with one draw control. Casiano scored the opening goal just 19 seconds into the game and set up the team's third goal to spark the Wildcats to a 5-0 lead. Both of her second-half tallies lifted New Hampshire into a tie (10-10 at 9:21 and 12-12 at 1:56).
Casiano has nine starts in 12 appearances this season with 10 goals and two assists for 12 points. She has scored a goal each of the last five games with four multiple-goal efforts. Casiano recorded her first career point with an assist vs. Fairfield (March 28). She scored her first collegiate goal April 3 vs. UMBC and finished that game with two tallies.
UNH has received a total of six America East Rookie of the Week awards, including each of the last five, this season. In addition to Casiano (April 12, 19 & 26), Jenny Simpson is a three-time recipient (April 5; March 8 &29).
