CAMBRIDGE, Mass.Ashley Milley (Sudbury, Mass.), a senior goalkeeper on the University of New Hampshire women’s lacrosse team, was named America East Defensive Player of the Week on Monday. It marked the second consecutive week that she received that distinction.

Milley recorded a 6.00 GAA and .600 save percentage in wins against Harvard University (March 12) and 10th-ranked Vanderbilt University (March 15). She made a season-high 12 saves in the road win against Vandy and that included seven in the first half when the ‘Cats built a 7-5 lead, as well as two in the closing minute to preserve UNH’s three-goal advantage; she was also credited with two ground balls and one caused turnover in that game. Earlier in the week at home against Harvard, Milley finished with six saves, four ground balls and one caused turnover.

In seven games this season (all starts), Milley has a 5-2 record with a 7.50 GAA and .464 save percentage. Her 12-save effort against the Commodores was one less than her career high of 13, which she has recorded three times. Milley has backboned the ‘Cats to a pair of road wins against teams ranked #10 in the nation; she had eight saves in an 8-7 win vs. Yale University on March 5.

UNH (5-2), winners of four straight games, returns to action March 19 against Cornell University at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex. The Wildcats’ next home game is March 22 for its America East league opener against UMBC. Both games begin at 12 p.m.
