BOSTON -- Shaunna Kaplan (Framingham, Mass.), a freshman midfielder on the University of New Hampshire women’s lacrosse team, was named Rookie of the Week by America East on Monday to mark the third time this season she received that honor. Kaplan also received that distinction March 5 & 12.

Kaplan recorded seven points last week on five goals and two assists to extend her goal-scoring streak to nine games. She finished with career highs in both goals (three) and points (four) to lead the Wildcats to a 16-8 win against the University of Vermont on March 31. Earlier in the week against Hofstra University, Kaplan sparked UNH’s second-half comeback bid with three second-half points (two goals, one assist). Her other statistics for the week included two ground balls, two draw controls and one caused turnover.

Kaplan is the only UNH player who has scored a goal in every game this season and can also boast being the only Wildcat with multiple points in every game. She is tied for the team lead in points (22) and has a team-best seven assists; she is tied for third in goals (15).

New Hampshire (5-4, 2-0 America East) returns to action April 4 at home vs. Vanderbilt University. Game time is 1:30 p.m.
