UNH women's lacrosse falls to No. 10 Vanderbilt, 10-3

NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- The 10th-ranked Vanderbilt University women's lacrosse team posted a second-half shutout en route to Monday afternoon's 10-3 non-conference victory against the University of New Hampshire at the Vanderbilt Lacrosse Complex.

UNH is now 1-4 while Vanderbilt improved to 4-1.

Rain began to fall 30 minutes prior to the match's opening draw, and the poor weather conditions played a factor throughout the match. Ball control was the name of the game early, as only one goal was scored in the game's opening 20 minutes. The Wildcats got on the board in the seventh minute on a goal by Kristin Blanchette (Sudbury, Mass.).

The Commodores missed their first seven shots, but eventually evened the score in 23rd minute on a goal by Lauren Peck. Exactly one minute later, VU took its first lead when Jess Roguski scored off a feed from Michelle Allen. Another Peck goal gave Vanderbilt a 3-1 lead.

New Hampshire rallied to tie the score, 3-3, on goals by Sarah Cahill (Lexington, Mass.) at 27:26 and Jess Burnap (New Canaan, Conn.) at 29:05. The hosts regained the lead before halftime, however, and UNH did not pull even the rest of the game.

UNH goalkeeper Stacey Plati (Nashua, N.H.) made 10 saves while VU counterpart Brooke Shinaberry stopped five shots.
