UNH women's lacrosse felled by No. 9 North Carolina, 9-3

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. - The ninth-ranked University of North Carolina women's lacrosse team scored five consecutive goals in the second half en route to Wednesday evening's 9-3 victory at Henry Stadium.

UNH is now 0-6 on the season with four losses to nationally-ranked teams. North Carolina improved to 3-3.

The Tar Heels led 4-2 at halftime and gradually pulled away midway through the second half with five consecutive goals - two by Allison Higgins -- in a 12 minute span.

UNH senior co-captain Jessie Groszkowski (Reisterstown, Md.) scored a goal in the closing minutes to cap the scoring and extend her goal-scoring streak to 34 games.

Sarah Cahill (Lexington, Mass.) and Katie Leland (Timonium, Md.) netted the Wildcats' first-half goals.

Senior co-captain Danielle Martin (Ellicott City, Md.) recorded nine saves while UNC counterpart Katelyn Hoffman stopped five shots.

New Hampshire returns to action March 21 at 20th-ranked Richmond. The next Wildcat home game is April 6 (12 p.m.) against Virginia Tech.
