New Hampshire lacrosse season opener rescheduled

DURHAM, N.H. - The University of New Hampshire athletic department has announced that the women's lacrosse season opener against Dartmouth College postponed on March 3 has been rescheduled for March 4. The game will now be played at Dartmouth College's Scully-Fahey Field with a 6:30 p.m. starting time.

This will mark the third consecutive year that New Hampshire faces Dartmouth in its season opener. Each of the previous two games was also played in Hanover. The Big Green recorded a 13-4 victory last year and were 18-6 victors in 2000. The Wildcats lead the all-time series 12-10, but Dartmouth has won each of the last six meetings.

UNH, led by America East Coach of the Year Sandy Bridgeman, finished the 2001 season with an 11-7 record - the most victories since the 1991 team also had 11 wins - and advanced to the America East Championships for the fourth consecutive season. The Wildcats broke the school record for both goals (210) and points (281) in a season.

The next game on UNH's schedule is March 6 (4 p.m.) at Yale. The Wildcat home opener is slated for April 3 (3:30 p.m.) vs. Brown.
