BURLINGTON, Vt. -- Twelve different Wildcats scored as the University of New Hampshire women's lacrosse team rolled to an 18-3 America East victory against the University of Vermont at Centennial Field on Friday afternoon. UNH improved to 3-4 overall and 2-0 in the conference while UVM fell to 1-6, 0-4.
Megan Mangano (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) netted the first of her two goals to give the Wildcats a 1-0 lead 52 seconds into the game. Vermont's Liz Lundgren tied the game at 27:25 but New Hampshire netted the next 10 goals and led 11-2 at the half Steph Keefe (Newton, Mass.) led the UNH attack with three goals. Mangano, Colleen Christopher (Hampton Falls, N.H.), Meagan Clavin (Hanover, N.H.) and Sue Yund (Castleton, N.Y.) each potted two goals.
UNH single-goal scorers were Jessie Groszkowski (Reistertown, Md.), Kerry Maher (Chittenango, N.Y.), Nicole Moore (Wilton, Maine), Maggie McKee (Middlebury, Vt.), Julie Stein (Baltimore, Md,) Kristin Andruszkiewicz (Beverly, Mass.), and Erin Leary (Cortland, N.Y.), who also had an assist. Vermont's Alicia Orr closed the game's scoring with 23 seconds remaining to account for the home teams other score.
Amanda Warren (Amherst, N.H.) played the first half in goal and recorded one save while allowing two tallies. Danielle Martin (Ellicott City, Md.) played the second half and stopped five shots while surrendering one goal. Rachael Kaplan made 12 saves for UVM.
UNH plays four games next week, including home contests against No. 19 Old Dominion (April 10, 2 p.m.), No. 9 Delaware (April 14, 3:30 p.m.) and Towson (April 16, noon).
