BELLAMY, FABER TO COMPETE AT USA HOCKEY WOMEN'S FESTIVAL
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Kacey Bellamy(Westfield, Mass.) and Sam Faber (Mt. Sinai, N.Y.), both of whom completed their ice hockey careers at the University of New Hampshire this past March, are among 41 players named to the 2009 USA Hockey Women’s National Festival roster as announced by USA Hockey on Thursday afternoon.
The Festival will be held Aug. 18-24 in Blaine, Minn., at the Schwan Super Rink. From that pool of players, 23 will be selected Aug. 24 for the 2009-10 U.S. Women’s National Team that will compete in the Qwest Tour, which includes a Nov. 22 game against Hockey East All-Stars at UNH’s Whittemore Center. Twenty-one players from that squad will comprise the team that plays in the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
Bellamy won a gold medal as a member of the U.S. team at the 2008 and 2009 International Ice Hockey Federation (IIHF) World Women’s Championship, as well as at the 2008 Four Nations Cup; she also earned a silver medal at the Four Nations Cup in 2006 and 2007.
As a senior captain for UNH in 2009, Bellamy recorded six goals and 22 assists for 28 points in 35 games to rank third nationally in defensemen scoring and garner RBK All-America First Team recognition. Bellamy was named a Hockey East First Team All-Star, then scored a goal in both the semifinal and final games of the Hockey East Championship Tournament to lead the Wildcats to their fourth consecutive league tournament title and garner Tournament MVP and All-Tournament Team accolades.

Faber led UNH in both assists and plus/minus; furthermore, she was third in both points (43) and goals (13) as well as fourth in shooting percentage.
