WAKEFIELD, Mass.Sadie Wright-Ward (Durham, N.H.), a senior forward on the second-ranked University of New Hampshire women’s ice hockey team, was named TPS Hockey Player of the Week by Hockey East on Monday.

Wright-Ward recorded three points – all on goals – last week to help keep UNH undefeated and untied in league play with two Hockey East victories. Wright-Ward scored the latter of two UNH goals in a 30-second span to give the Wildcats a 2-0 lead, and that tally proved to be the game-winning goal in the 4-1 win at Boston University. In the next game, Wright-Ward netted a pair of power-play goals to spark New Hampshire to a 5-0 win at the University of Vermont.

Wright-Ward leads the Wildcats in shooting percentage (.235) and is third in both goals (four) and power-play goals (two). In 114 career games, she has compiled 48 goals and 66 assists for 114 points to rank second among active players in all three statistics.

New Hampshire (7-1-0 overall, 5-0-0 Hockey East) returns to action Nov. 7 (7 p.m.) when the Wildcats begin an eight-game homestand against Boston College. Tickets for the game are available online at www.unhwildcats.com or by calling 866-WILDCAT. Video of the game will also be available online at UNHwildcats.tv.
