WAKEFIELD, Mass.  – Kelly Paton (Woodstock, Ontario), a freshman forward on the third-ranked University of New Hampshire women’s hockey team, was named Mission Rookie of the Month by Hockey East on Friday.
    Paton recorded eight points with five goals and three assists in seven November games, and that included two goals and an assist for three points in four games against nationally-ranked teams. She also recorded 2-1-3 in three Hockey East league games. Paton had a five-game point-scoring streak that began Nov. 11 with a goal in four consecutive games; she recorded 5-1-6 in that five-game span. Paton’s other November highlights included a .263 shooting percentage, a game-winning goal (vs. St. Lawrence University), two shorthanded goals and a plus/minus rating of +9. She had a point in five of seven games with three multiple-point efforts.
    Paton, who was named Rookie of the Week on Nov. 13, is ranked 12th nationally in rookie scoring at 1.06 points per game, and she is one of nine skaters tied for the lead in shorthanded goals with two. She is tied for second on the team in points (17), tied for third in goals (seven) and tied for fourth in assists (10); all three numbers are best among UNH rookies. In other numbers, Paton leads the Wildcats in plus/minus (+15) and is second in shooting percentage (.200).
    New Hampshire returns to action Dec. 2 at home against the University of Vermont. Game time at the Whittemore Center is 7 p.m.
