WAKEFIELD, Mass. -- Leah Craig (Seaforth, Ontario), a sophomore forward on the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team, was named Player of the Week by Hockey East on Monday.
Craig led UNH to a two-game weekend series sweep at Niagara University in which she recorded six goals and an assist in the 6-0 and 8-2 victories. She scored a career-high four goals Oct. 22 and the four points also tied a personal best. One day earlier, Craig scored two goals, including the game-winning tally, and assisted on another.
Craig is currently ranked first in the nation in goals per game (2.00) as well as tied for second in points per game (2.33). She is first on the team in goals (six), power-play goals (three) and shorthanded goals (one), and is also tied for the lead in points (seven).
In 38 career games, Craig has compiled 35 points on 18 goals and 17 assists. Her other collegiate honors include Hockey East All-Rookie Team in 2005.
UNH (3-0-0 overall, 1-0-0 Hockey East) returns to action at home Oct. 28 vs. Brown University. Game time at the Whittemore Center is 7 p.m.
