WAKEFIELD, Mass. -- Lindsay Hansen (Northport, N.Y.), a junior forward on the seventh-ranked University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team, was named Player of the Week by Hockey East on Monday.
Hansen matched her career highs in both assists (four) and points (five) to lead UNH to a 7-1 Hockey East victory against Northeastern University on Nov. 20. Hansen recorded three assists in the first period, netted the only goal of the middle stanza and added another assist in the final frame.
In the past two games, Hansen has eight points with a goal and seven assists. For the season, she has a team-high 10 assists and is second on the team with 14 points. Hansen is also tied for second in plus/minus at +7.
Hansen is the second Wildcat to earn the distinction of Player of the Week by Hockey East this season. Nicole Hekle (Winnipeg, Manitoba) earned the inaugural honor of the 2004-05 season on Oct. 18.
UNH (8-1-1, 4-0-0 Hockey East) plays host to the 2004 UNH Thanksgiving Tournament, presented by Ocean National, this weekend. The tourney begins Nov. 27 with Dartmouth College vs. Mercyhurst College at 1 p.m. and is followed by Minnesota State University vs. UNH at four o'clock.
