BOSTON - Stephanie Jones (Kimberley, B.C.) and Melissa Bourdon (Ile Bizard, Quebec) of the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team were selected to the 2004-05 New England Hockey Writers Women's Division I All-Star Team, the organization announced earlier this week.
Jones, Bourdon and the remainder of the 12-player team will be honored at the New England Hockey Writers Annual Awards Banquet on April 13 at the Prince of Pizza Restaurant (Saugus, Mass.). The All-Star Team is comprised of seven players from the Hockey East Association and five from the ECAC Hockey League.
Jones, the 2005 Hockey East co-Player of the Year and league First Team All-Star, led New Hampshire in goals (23) and finished No. 20 in the nation in that statistic (0.66 gpg). She also led the team in both game-winning goals (five) and power-play goals (seven), and ranked second in points (42) and fourth in assists (19).
Bourdon, the Hockey East ITECH Goaltending Champion and league First Team All-Star, compiled a 10-2-2 record with a 1.85 GAA, .915 save percentage and three shutouts in 16 Hockey East contests. Overall, she went 18-6-4 with a 1.99 GAA, .913 save percentage and four shutouts. She ranked ninth in the nation in GAA, 16th in save percentage, sixth in minutes played (1747:27) and seventh in win percentage (.714).
New Hampshire graduate and current Harvard head coach Katey Stone (UNH '88) was selected as the 2005 New England Hockey Writers Coach of the Year after leading her team to a 26-7-3 record and a runner-up finish in the NCAA tournament.
UNH finished the 2005 season with a 21-8-6 overall record, which included 13-3-4 in Hockey East, and a No. 10 national ranking.
