WAKEFIELD, Mass. -- Lindsay Hansen (Northport, N.Y.), a junior forward on the eighth-ranked University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team, was honored as Player of the Week by Hockey East on Monday. It is the third league award for Hansen this season, as she received the same distinction Nov. 22 and was named Player of the Month for November.
Hansen recorded six points with four goals and two assists to lead the Wildcats to a share of the Hockey East regular-season title with two wins against Boston College (10-2; 2-1) last weekend. She recorded her first career hat trick, as well as her 100th career point, on Saturday. She scored the first goal of the game and set up the second goal to become the 33rd Wildcat to record 100 career points and give UNH a 2-0 lead in that game. On Sunday, she registered a point on both of UNH's goals as she netted the game-winning tally with 5:19 remaining in regulation and set up the goal that gave the 'Cats a 1-0 lead 32 seconds into the game.
Hansen ranks second on the team in assists (28) and third in points (37). She has recorded a point in 20 of 34 games with 11 multiple-point efforts. In 102 career games, Hansen has amassed 104 points with 30 goals and 74 assists, and that assist total is No. 14 on UNH's all-time list.
UNH (21-7-6, 13-3-4 Hockey East) finished in a tie atop the Hockey East regular-season standings with Providence College. The Wildcats are the No. 2 seed in the upcoming Women's Hockey East Championship and will face third-seeded University of Connecticut (15-11-8, 11-5-4) in a three o'clock semifinal matchup March 12 at Boston University's Walter Brown Arena. The championship game is March 13 (1 p.m.).
