UNH duo receives top monthly honors from Hockey East

WAKEFIELD, Mass. -Stephanie Jones (Kimberley, B.C.), a junior forward on the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team, was named Player of the Month and Melissa Bourdon (Ile Bizard, Quebec), a freshman goaltender, was honored as Rookie of the Month for November by Hockey East on Wednesday.

Jones, a TPS Player of the Week in November, recorded a point in seven of 10 games last month to finish with totals of six goals, seven assists and a team-high 13 points. Those numbers included two game-winning goals, an assist on one game-winning goal and three power-play tallies. In a pair of Hockey East games, Jones compiled 2-2-4 with one game-winning goal and one power-play goal. She had five multiple-point games and recorded 1-3-4 in four games vs. nationally-ranked teams during the moth of November.

Bourdon, a three-time ITECH Rookie of the Week in November, compiled a 3-1-0 record with a 1.00 GAA, a .964 save percentage and two shutouts last month. In a pair of conference games, Bourdon was 2-0-0 with a 1.00 GAA, .958 save percentage and one shutout. In her collegiate debut Nov. 15, she made 28 saves to shut out 10th-ranked Princeton University. Bourdon closed out November with a career-high 34 saves in UNH's 2-1 loss to third-ranked Harvard University.

Eighth-ranked New Hampshire (6-4-2 overall, 3-0-1 Hockey East) returns to action Dec. 5 at home against the University of Vermont. Game time at the Whittemore Center is 7 p.m.
