DURHAM, N.H. - Melissa Bourdon (Ile Bizard, Quebec), a freshman at the University of New Hampshire, has been granted a waiver request by the NCAA and is eligible to play for the UNH women's ice hockey team effective immediately, the organization announced Monday.
Bourdon was a three-sport letterwinner at The Williston Northampton School. She was named the ice hockey team's MVP in both the 2002 and 2003 seasons and was the school's 2003 recipient of the Alumnae Bowl, which is presented to the student-athlete who has made the best overall contribution to athletics. As a senior, Bourdon had a .930 save percentage and averaged 40 saves per game. Other hockey highlights include being a silver medalist for Team Quebec at the 2001 Canadian Championship and a 2002 Hockey Night in Boston All-Star.
