WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Sadie Wright-Ward (Durham, N.H./Brewster Academy), a freshman forward on the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team, was honored as Rookie of the Week by Hockey East on Monday.
Wright-Ward recorded three points with a goal and two assists in her collegiate debut last Friday (Oct. 24) at the University of Connecticut in which UNH recorded a4-2 victory. She earned an assist on classmate Jackie Wedster's goal at 15:11 of the second period that gave UNH a 2-0 lead. She also set up the Wildcats' next goal, which came midway through the final frame and proved to be the game-winning tally. Wright-Ward scored her first goal at with 4:31 remaining in the game.
Wright-Ward leads the team in points (three) and assists (two), and she is second in plus/minus at +2.
New Hampshire (1-0-1 overall, 1-0-1 Hockey East) returns to action Nov. 1-2 at the University of North Dakota. The next Wildcat home game is Nov. 7 vs. St. Lawrence University. Game time at the Whittemore Center is 7 p.m.
