WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Carolyn Gordon (Petrolia, Ontario), a senior forward and assistant captain on the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team, was named TPS Hockey Player of the Week by Hockey East on Monday.
Gordon recorded five points with four goals and an assist in UNH's split of a home-and-home series against Providence College. The last of her five points - a power-play goal in the third period of Sunday's 5-2 loss - was the 100th of Gordon's career; she has 44 goals and 56 assists in 130 games. Gordon registered her second career hat trick with three goals, including the game-winning tally, in Saturday's 4-3 victory at the Whittemore Center.
Gordon leads UNH in goals with 13 and her 24 points is tied for the team lead. She is one of two Wildcats who has reached double digits in both goals and assists (11).
This marks the second consecutive week that a UNH player was feted as Player of the Week by Hockey East. Lindsay Hansen was the Jan. 26 recipient.
New Hampshire (13-8-3) returns to action Feb. 6 at home against Northeastern University. Game time at the Whittemore Center is 7 p.m.
