WAKEFIELD, Mass. - Chandy Kaip (Radville, Sask.), a senior forward on the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team, was named TPS Louisville Player of the Week by Women's Hockey East on Monday.
Kaip recorded two goals and an assist for three points in a two-game weekend series at No. 6 St. Lawrence. In UNH's 4-3 loss on Friday (Nov. 8), Kaip pulled UNH within 2-1 on a late second-period goal, then struck again on a power-play goal with 56 seconds remaining to trim the deficit to 4-3. Kaip was credited with the primary assist on the game-tying goal with 13 seconds left in the third period of Saturday's 1-1 tie.
Kaip, a member of UNH 1999 national runner-up team, has two goals and six assists in nine games this season. In 111 career games, she has 11 goals and 20 assists for 31 points.
This marks the second time that a UNH skater was honored as Player of the Week. Carolyn Gordon was named top player Oct. 21.
New Hampshire, which is 7-1-1 under the guidance of first-year head coach Brian McCloskey, returns to action this weekend for a two-game home series against Princeton University at the Whittemore Center. The two-game set opens Nov. 16 (7 p.m.) and concludes Nov. 17 (p.m.).
