CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Jen Huggon (Plymouth, Mass.) of the University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey team was named Goaltender of the Week by the ECAC Eastern Women's Hockey League on Monday.
Huggon, who also won the award on Oct. 29, went 2-0-0 last week as she recorded back-to-back shutout victories (3-0, 2-0) against fourth-ranked Wisconsin. In the first of the two-game series, Huggon stopped 29 shots, including 15 in the third period. She followed that with a 25-save effort to record her third consecutive shutout. With a current shutout streak of 185 minutes, 10 seconds, Huggon has lowered her goals-against-average to 1.28 - sixth-best in the nation - and increased her save percentage to .949, which is third best in the country. The fifth-ranked UNH Wildcats, who have won eight consecutive games to improve to 8-1-0, return to action Nov. 24 at St. Cloud State.
The next home game is Dec. 1 against Connecticut. Game time at the Whittemore Center is 2 p.m.
