New Hampshire women's hockey honored by ECAC

CENTERVILLE, Mass. - Three University of New Hampshire student-athletes received honors from the ECAC Eastern Women's Ice Hockey League as Seanna Conway (Concord, Ohio) and Hillary Ensor (Grapevine, Texas) shared the Goaltender of the Week award and Steph Jones (Kimberley, B.C.) was named Rookie of the Week, the league announced Monday.

Jones scored four goals, including one game-winning goal, and assisted on another tally to record five points in UNH's 9-0 and 10-0 victories against Quinnipiac University at the Whittemore Center. Last Friday, she gave the 'Cats a 1-0 lead at 4:08 of the first period; she is tied for the national lead with three game-winning goals this season. Jones registered her first career hat trick Saturday with a pair of first-period tallies and another goal in the second period. She is second on the team in goals (seven) and fourth in points (eight). She leads all UNH rookies in both of those categories.

Conway made her collegiate debut Nov. 2 against Quinnipiac and turned aside all 11 shots on goal to record a shutout victory, 9-0. Ensor, in her first collegiate start, made 14 saves vs. Quinnipiac on Nov. 3 to register a shutout victory, which was her first career win. She made one appearance last season in which she played the final nine minutes of a game at Boston College; she combined with Jen Huggon (Plymouth, Mass.) to shut out the Eagles.

The fifth-ranked UNH Wildcats return to action Nov. 7 at Boston College. Game time is 7 p.m. The next home game for New Hampshire is Nov. 16 against fourth-ranked Wisconsin. Opening faceoff at the Whittemore Center is scheduled for 7 p.m.
