Durham, N.H.-Three University of New Hampshire women's ice hockey players were named to the ECAC Honor Roll Monday for their efforts in the 7-0 win over Maine Saturday. Senior forwards Carisa Zaban (Glenview, Ill.) and Samantha Holmes (Mississauga, Ont.) and freshman goaltender Jen Huggon (Plymouth, Mass.) earned ECAC honor roll honors.
Zaban recorded a hat trick Saturday, with all of her goals coming in the second period. She also added an assist in the third period for a four point performance. Zaban tied the school record for goals in a period, a record which she now shares with five other players. Her goals were at even strength, on the power play and shorthanded.
Holmes scored two goals in the second period and added another goal in the third for her second hat trick of the season.
Huggon recorded her second shutout of the season with 26 saves. She currently holds a .942 save percentage, a 1.32 goals against average with a 7-1-0 record.
The women's ice hockey team hosts Ohio State University on January 1 at 7 p.m. The two teams will meet again on January 2 at 2 p.m.
