DURHAM, N.H.-Senior forward Carisa Zaban (Glenview, Ill.) recorded three assists as the University of New Hampshire women’s hockey team won its second exhibition game 6-0 over the Assabet Sr. A’s Friday night at the Whittemore Center.
UNH got on the board with under two minutes into the first half on a power play goal by senior forward Samantha Holmes (Mississauga, Ont.) which proved to be the game winner. Sophomore forward Kelly McManus (Dedham, Mass.) and Zaban assisted on the goal.
In the second period, junior center Michelle Thornton (Gloucester, Ont.) extended the lead 2-0 off an assist from senior forward Melissa McKenzie (Bethel Park, Pa.). Senior forward Tina Carrabba (Billerica, Mass.) gave the Wildcats a 3-0 lead 10 minutes later on an assist from Holmes and freshman defender Nicole Stefanilo (Sanford, Maine).
Freshman forward Kristine Butt (Pembroke, Mass.), junior forward Jenn Wildman (London, Ont.) and junior Kali Wilson (East Lansing, Mich.) tallied third period goals for a 6-0 lead.
Freshman goaltender Jen Huggon (Plymouth, Mass.) recorded 20 saves in the victory. Assabet goaltenders Amy Quinlan and Julie Vallarelli combined for 28 saves.
The Wildcats return to action November 13 against Yale at 7 p.m. They take on the Princeton Tigers November 14 at 3 p.m. at the Whittemore Center.
