DURHAM, N.H.--Freshman goaltender Jen Huggon (Plymouth, Mass.) of the University of New Hampshire women’s ice hockey team received ECAC Rookie of the Week honors Monday for her efforts against Maine and Dartmouth. Senior center Carisa Zaban (Glenview, Ill) received honor roll honors.
Huggon posted a 2-0-0 record on the week as she backstopped the Wildcats to a 6-1 win over Maine and a 5-1 Win Over Dartmouth. Against Dartmouth, Huggon made 29 saves, 16 of which came in the third period. For the week Huggon allowed just two goals for a 1.00 goals against average and a .949 save percentage.
In wins over Maine and Boston College, Zaban tallied two assists in both games. Against Dartmouth, Zaban scored two goals, one of which proved to be the game winner and added an assist in the win. Her assist broke the school’s all-time scoring record of 255 career points previously held by Kathy Bryant. Zaban now has 258 career points.
The Wildcats return to action when they travel to Brown on Friday night and Harvard on Saturday night. Both games start at 7 p.m.
