Durham, N.H.--Senior forward Samantha Holmes (Mississauga, Ont.), freshman goaltender Jen Huggon (Plymouth, Mass.) and junior center Michelle Thornton (Gloucester, Ont.) of the University of New Hampshire women’s ice hockey team were named to the ECAC Honor Roll Monday for their efforts against Ohio State last weekend.
Holmes scored her third hat trick of the year and second straight in the 7-0 win over Ohio State on Saturday. Holmes then added a goal and an assist in the 5-0 win on Sunday. She currently leads the Wildcats with 17 goals.
Huggon recorded her third shutout of the year and second straight on Saturday night. She stopped seven shots en route to her eighth victory of the year. Huggon currently holds a 1.18 goals against average and a .944 save percentage.
Thornton returned to the lineup last weekend and notched a five point performance in the weekend sweep. She assisted on two goals on Saturday including the game winner and scored two goals, including the game winner and added an assist on Sunday.
The Wildcats return to action when they travel to St. Lawrence on Friday and Cornell on Saturday. Both contests begin at 7 p.m.
