CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Kelsey Hogan (Nashua, N.H.), a freshman guard on the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team, was honored as Rookie of the Week for the second time this season by the America East Conference Monday afternoon.
Hogan earns the honor after averaging 12.5 points, 5.0 assists, and 3.5 rebounds per game, leading the Wildcats to their first conference win of the season over Stony Brook on Jan. 15. Additionally, she finished the week with a 2.0 assist-to-turnover ratio, while shooting an impressive 64.3 percent (9-14) from the floor, 50 percent (3-6) from three, and 100 percent (4-4) from the free throw line.
In UNH's win over the Seawolves, the redshirt-freshman finished with a season-high 16 points, six assists, and five boards. It is the fourth time this season she has recorded double-digit points and her six assists were just two shy of a career high and one short of a season best. Earlier in the week against Hartford (Jan. 12), she tallied nine points, four assists, two rebounds, one steal and shot an impressive 80 percent (4-5) from the floor.
She currently leads New Hampshire with an average of 4.6 assists per game, ranking first in the America East. In total she has tallied 78 assists on the year and has led the team in helpers in all but four games this season. She is also among the league leaders in three-point field goal percentage (.410 - 2nd), three-pointers made (1.5 pg - 10th), and assist-to-turnover ratio (1.2 - 4th).
Hogan and the Wildcats conclude a three-game homestand on January 17 (7 p.m.) when the University of Vermont visits Lundholm Gymnasium.
