204 STUDENT-ATHLETES NAMED TO AMERICA EAST ACADEMIC HONOR ROLL
CAMBRIDGE, Mass. –
The America East conference announced Thursday that 204 University
of New Hampshire student-athletes have been named to the America
East Winter/Spring Academic Honor Roll. Furthermore, 97 of those
Wildcats received distinction on the Commissioner’s Honor
A total of 1,730 student-athletes were named to the Academic Honor Roll for recording a grade-point-average of 3.0 or higher; 835 finished with a 3.5 GPA or higher to earn Commissioner’s Honor Roll status.
UNH had the third highest total of representatives on both the Academic Honor Roll and Commissioner’s Honor Roll. The women’s outdoor track and field team had 55 student-athletes named to the Academic Honor Roll, which marked the highest total for all winter and spring sports; that team also had a league-high 28 representatives on the Commissioner’s Honor Roll.
The women’s indoor track and field team also recorded league bests on both lists with 54 and 26, respectively. The men’s outdoor track and field team had 30 representatives on the Academic Honor Roll and 15 on the Commissioner’s Honor Roll to rank second in America East. The men’s indoor track and field squad also ranked second in the league on both lists with 25 and 12, respectively.
America East is proud to have one of most comprehensive academic awards programs in the country. In addition to the honor roll, an All-Academic team comprised of student-athletes that excel both academically and athletically is chosen in each of the conference’s 21 sports by a committee consisting of faculty athletic representatives, academic advisors and sports information directors.
Additionally, a scholar-athlete, someone distinguished as the top student-athlete in his/her sport, is awarded. From that group, one male and one female is selected the America East Scholar-Athlete of the Year. The America East Academic Cup, which honors the America East institution with the highest average cumulative GPA among its student-athletes, will be awarded Wednesday, June 24, while the winter/spring scholar-athletes will be named on Tuesday, June 30.
