BOSTON – The America East conference announced Wednesday that the University of New Hampshire women’s basketball team was selected fifth in the preseason poll as voted on by the conference’s coaches.
UNH attempts to post its third consecutive winning season after going 15-13 last season.  The Wildcats will also attempt to go further into the playoffs after a loss to Boston University in the quarterfinals of the America East Tournament last season.
The ‘Cats will be led by a solid core of returning All-Conference players that include last season’s leading scorer, senior co-captain Danielle Clark (Corinna, Maine), senior guard and co-captain Whitney Edwards (Mount Vernon, N.Y.) and senior forward Ray Williams (Mississauga, Ontario).  The ‘Cats also blend in some youth, adding six newcomers to this year’s squad.
UNH opens the season Nov. 14 at 7 p.m. when they travel across the boarder to take on the University of Massachusetts before opening at home against Wagner College on Nov. 17 at 7 p.m.
