DURHAM, N.H. - A trip by nationally ranked Boston College to Lundholm Gymnasium for the 2005 UNH Thanksgiving Tournament highlights the 2005-06 schedule for the Wildcat women's basketball team, released today by the UNH athletic department.

Besides the Eagles, the Wildcats will welcome Cornell and North Texas for the two-day tournament on Nov. 26-27. UNH will face Cornell and Boston College will play North Texas on the first day, with the two losers meeting in the next day's consolation game followed by the championship game between the two winners from the previous day.

Coming off a 15-14 record in 2004-05, the Wildcats will begin this season on the road for the first time in four years, traveling to New Haven, Conn., to face head coach Sue Johnson's alma mater Yale on Nov. 19. The home opener for Johnson's squad comes on Nov. 22 against the Marist Red Foxes at 7 p.m.

The Wildcats will have only one home game in December, a Dec. 4 matinee against UMass, the first meeting between the neighboring state universities in three years. New Hampshire will travel to Wagner, Colgate, and former conference rival Northeastern in December, plus participate in a tournament at Lehigh University along with Towson and Fairfield at the end of the month.

UNH, after a 10-8 conference record and a third-place finish in America East last season, opens conference play at Lundholm Gym against UMBC on Jan. 4 at 7 p.m. Conference play is interrupted by a trip across the state to face defending Ivy League champion Dartmouth on Jan. 11. The Wildcats then play their next two games at home, including a matchup against defending regular season conference champion Maine on Jan. 18 at 7 p.m.

Defending America East tournament champion Hartford will host the Wildcats on Jan. 25, with the Hawks coming to Durham for an afternoon tilt on Feb. 12. The home slate ends with games against Albany on Feb. 22 and Boston University on Feb. 25, with the final regular season game coming on March 1 at Vermont.

For the fifth consecutive season, the Wildcats and the rest of the America East teams will travel to Hartford for the America East Women's Basketball Tournament, to be held from March 8-11. Last season UNH defeated Albany in the quarterfinals and made its third appearance in the tournament semifinals in the last four seasons.
