HARTFORD, Conn. - Capping off a successful regular season, University of New Hampshire women's basketball player Lindsay Adams (Theresa, N.Y.) has been voted to the America East All-Conference Third Team, announced this morning at the annual awards banquet preceding the start of the conference tournament.
Adams, a guard who has also played both forward positions at one time or another during the year, leads the Wildcats in scoring with 11.5 points per game and in rebounding with 4.7 rebounds per game. She is shooting 44.7 percent from the field, including 37.3 percent from the three-point line, and 72.2 percent from the free throw line.
In all games, Adams is tied for 13th in the conference in scoring average. In conference games only, she is 12th in America East in scoring, averaging 12.0 points per game. Averaging 27.7 minutes per game, she has reached double figures in scoring 17 times, including 12 of the last 17 games.
The senior earned her second career America East Player of the Week honor on February 7 after averaging 19 points per game in victories over Northeastern and Albany. Against the Huskies, she scored 15 points, scoring the first five points in a 10-0 run midway through the second half that enabled UNH to pull away from Northeastern.
Four days later, in her home state, in front of family, friends, and a regional television audience, Adams scored a career-high 23 points as the Wildcats defeated the Albany Great Danes, 71-61. From the field, she hit 8-of-12 shots, including 3-of-5 shooting from the three-point line, and hit 4-of-5 attempts from the free throw line.
Earlier this year, Adams was voted to the ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District First Team, an honor that recognizes a player's exemplary achievement both on the court and in the classroom. The athletic training major will try to get her certification this summer after completing her undergraduate work in May.
Adams and the rest of the Wildcats face Albany in the quarterfinals of the America East Tournament on Thursday, March 10, at 8:30 p.m. at Chase Family Arena.
