DURHAM, N.H. - Sue Johnson, the head coach of the University of New Hampshire women's basketball team, has signed a multi-year contract extension to stay at the university, announced today by Athletic Director Marty Scarano.
Johnson has been the head coach of the Wildcats since the 1997-98 season, compiling a career record of 109-117 during the past eight years, including a 70-70 record in America East contests. In her second year at the helm of the team, she took the Wildcats to the 1999 National Invitational Tournament, the first-ever postseason berth for the women's basketball program.
Last season, Johnson led her players to a 15-14 overall record, including a 10-8 record in America East, good enough for third place in the conference. The Wildcats defeated conference regular season champion Maine for the first time in four years and advanced to the semifinals of the America East Tournament for the third time in the last four seasons.
