NEW BRITAIN, Conn. – Senior Marc Ouellette (Hopkinton, N.H.) placed third overall to lead the University of New Hampshire men’s cross country team to Saturday afternoon’s victory at the 14-team Central Connecticut State University Mini Meet at Stanley Quarter Park.

The Wildcats finished with 45 points, while the next closest team, Stony Brook University, finished with 68.

Ouellette completed the race in a time of 14 minutes, 53 seconds, just nine seconds off the pace of the race winner.

Senior Matt O’Connor (Rhinebeck, N.Y.) and junior Josh Kearns (Ridgefield, Conn.) backed Ouellette’s effort, placing sixth and seventh, respectively. O’Connor crossed the finish line at 15:07, while Kearns finished in a time of 15:20.

Freshman Alex Beauleau (Merrimack, N.H.) also placed inside the top 10 for the Wildcats, placing 10th in 15:32.

Freshman Nicholas Williams (Mechanic Falls, Maine) and sophomore Andrew Dionne (Westerly, R.I.) were top-20 finishers, placing 19th and 20th, respectively, while both running the course in 15:45.

Sophomore Timothy Mallard (Pelham, N.H.) placed 34th in the 148-runner field, finishing in a time of 16:01.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday, Nov. 1 when they compete at the America East Championship at Oregon Ridge Park.
