UNH men's cross country captures Albany title

UNH placed three runners in the top 20 and recorded 99 points to easily defeat runner-up New York University, which finished with 128 points in the 27-team field. Fellow America East members Albany (267 points) and Binghamton University (387) place eighth and 14th, respectively.

Russell ran the 8K course of the R.K. Munsey Men's Championship Race in 24 minutes, 59.4 seconds to earn fifth place 13.4 seconds behind individual winner Max Feldman of Connecticut.

Ben Danton (New Milford, Conn.) and Nick Decrescenzo (New Milford, Conn.) finished within a five-second span to finish 16th and 18th, respectively. Danton crossed the finish line in 25:30.9 and Decrescenzo followed in 25:35.4.

Andrew Van Hoogenstyn (Scarborough, Maine) edged teammate Nick Jenkins (Francestown, N.H.) by three-tenths of a second for 29th place with a time of 25:47.4. Jenkins completed the Wildcat scoring 31st in 25:47.3.

Jordan Horwitz (Evanston, Ill.) and Rodolfo Crispin (Ridgewood, N.J.) were close behind Van Hoogenstyn and Jenkins to round out UNH's varsity squad. Horwitz was clocked in 25:57.2 seconds for 40th place and Crispin was 43rd in 25:59.8.

New Hampshire returns to action Oct. 29 at the America East Championship, which is at Binghamton University.
