DURHAM, N.H. – The University of New Hampshire men's track and field team will hit the road as it will travel to Binghamton University for the 2013 America East Track and Field Championships. The two-day event kicks off on Saturday, May 4.
Saturday's events will start at 10 a.m., beginning with the decathlon. Thomas Bove will be the lone participant in the event for the Wildcats.
At 12 p.m., five 'Cats will compete in the hammer throw finals. In flight one, Joseph McKee, Mark Hamilton, Thomas Lynch (Pelham, N.H.) will compete while flight two will consist of Jake Renaud (Lancaster, N.H.) and Chris Dupuis (Plaistow, N.H.).
In the next event, the javelin throw, Jessie Swink (Groton, Conn.) and Hamilton will represent UNH. At 1:30 p.m., the trials for the 1,500 meter run will commence. In heat one, Luke Miller (Birdsboro, Pa.) and David Gervais (Nashua, N.H.) will compete while Kevin Greene (Silver Spring, Md.), Zachary Chabot (Manchester, N.H.) and Timothy Brown (Southington, Conn.) will run in heat two.
The following event will be the 110 meter hurdles. Sophomore Brian Ferreira (Mansfield, Mass.) and senior Max Hoddwells (Wayne, Maine) will run the event. Ferreira will run in heat one, as Hoddwells will in heat two.
In the 400 meter dash, New Hampshire will have to runners in heat one and one in heats two and three. Andrew Albin (Bethel, Conn.) and Isaiah Penn (Boston, Mass.) are slated to run in the first heat as Joseph Lemay (Derry, N.H.) will compete in the second. Nicholas Sullivan (Newport, N.H.) rounds out the field in the third heat. The 800 meter run will feature Greene, Ethan Dionne (Nashua, N.H.), Steven Souza (Fall River, Mass.) and Dean Bhatt (Woodbridge, Conn.) in the first heat as James Anderson (Melrose, Mass.) and Eric Stys (Stittville, N.Y.) will compete in the fourth heat.
The 100 meter dash will start at 3:15 p.m., and will have three Wildcats in the race. Seth Sheridan, Dylan Pelletier and Christopher DeCarlo (Derry, N.H.) will all race in the third and final heat.
At 3:50 p.m., Ferreira and Tyler Mulcahy (Weymouth, Mass.) will partake in the 400 meter hurdles. In the next event, the 3,000 meter steeplechase, Jeremy Wildgoose (Woodstock, Conn.) and John Prizzi (Wycoff, N.J.) will represent the University of New Hampshire. Pelletier, DeCarlo, Sullivan, Sheridan and Penn will all run again in the 200 meter dash, set to start at 4:55 p.m.
In the final event, the 10,000 meter run, Louis Saviano (Sandown, N.H.), Samuel Gagnon (Hooksett, N.H.), John Corona (Middletown, Conn.) and Cory Sinotte (Hooksett, N.H.) will cap of the first day as they will all strive for gold in the event.
