ORONO, Maine – The University of New Hampshire men's track and field squad finished second in a tri-meet at the University of Maine on Saturday, finishing with a score of 138. Maine won the meet with 140 points while Bates College finished third with 137 points.
Matthew Guarente (Saugus, Mass.) claimed the high jump, clearing a height of 1.90m. The 4x100 relay squad of Brian Sullivan (Derry, N.H.), Victor Adejuyigbe (Penacook, N.H.), Christopher DeCarlo (Derry, N.H.) and Seth Sheridan took gold, crossing the line with a time of 43.93.
Adejuyigbe took first in the 100-meter dash after sprinting to a time of 11.13. Kevin Greene (Silver Spring, Md.) took first place in the 800 meter run, topping the second place finisher with a time of 1:53.64. Nicholas Sullivan (Newport, N.H.) dashed to a first place finish in the 200 meter dash, crossing the finish line at 22.73. Cory Sinotte (Hooksett, N.H.) finished the grueling 10,000 after crossing the line with a time of 31:50.32.
Thomas Bove leapt to a top-podium finish in the long jump, clearing 6.64 meters, capping off the first-place finishes for the Wildcats.
The squad returns home in the next meet on April 6 as they host Holy Cross and Maine at the Reggie F. Atkins track & field facility. The meet starts at 11 a.m.
