Men’s Track & Field Opens IC4A Championships; 4x800 Relay Sets School Record

BOSTON – Junior Kevin Greene (Silver Spring, Md.) advanced the finals of the mile and the Wildcats' 4x800 meter relay team broke a school record and also advanced to the finals as the University of New Hampshire men's track & field team took part in the second day of the IC4A Championships at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center on Saturday.

Greene placed second overall in the preliminaries of the mile as he crossed the finish line in a time of 4:06.88 to advance to Sunday's final. Greene captured America East title in the event at the conference championships earlier this season and most recently placed second overall in the 1,000 meters at the New England Championships.

The Wildcats' 4x800 meter relay team of sophomore James Anderson (Melrose, Mass.), freshman Luke Miller (Birdsboro, Pa.), junior Eric Stys (Stittville, N.Y.) and Greene placed fifth overall in the trials with a record-breaking time of 7:33.13 to advance to Sunday's final. The team broke the previous school record of 7:37.09, which was set in 2010.

Senior David Gervais (Nashua, N.H.) placed 21st overall in 1,000 meters in a time of 2:30.28, while the Wildcats' 4x400 meter relay team took 24th in a time of 3:19.47.

The Wildcats will wrap up the IC4As on Sunday at the Track & Tennis Center.
