RALEIGH, N.C. – Senior Sydney Fitzpatrick (Billerica, Mass.) captured the 10,000-meter run and graduate student Allison Letourneau (Kingston, Nova Scotia) set her fourth school record of the season as the University of New Hampshire outdoor track & field team took part in the NC State Raleigh Relays Friday at the Paul Derr Track.
Fitzpatrick topped the field of 48 runners with an ECAC-qualifying time of 34:50.34, while junior Keely Maguire (Georgetown, Mass.) took third in the event with an ECAC-qualifying time of 35:18.11.
Letourneau, who also qualified for the ECACs, placed 17th overall in the 5,000 meters, crossing the finish line in a time of 16:39.95 to break Erica Jesseman's record mark from last season. This is the fourth school record for Letourneau this year after setting three this past indoor season, breaking the record twice for the 1,000 meters and once in the mile.
On the men's side, senior Brice Paey (Milton, N.H.) finished second overall in the shot put with an IC4A-qualfying toss of 17.28 meters. Paey, who captured the America East shot put title this past indoor season, was runner-up in the field of 38 throwers.
Senior Alexander Beaulieau (Merrimack, N.H.) placed 16th overall in the 5,000 meters in a time of 15:17.19 to round out the quintet of Wildcat competitors.
The Wildcats are back in action on Saturday, March 31 when they take on the University of Maine at the Beckett Track & Field Complex in Orono, Maine.
