NEW ORLEANS – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association recently announced that graduate student Paul DeTurk (Durham, N.H.) of the University of New Hampshire men's track & field team has been named to the USTFCCCA Division I All-Academic Track & Field Team for the second straight season.
DeTurk, who wrapped up an impressive throwing career and submitted a 3.62 GPA, was one of 420 student-athletes named to the Division I All-Academic Track and Field Team. DeTurk won the hammer throw at the New England Championships with a toss of 60.91m, one week after placing second in the event at the America East Championships, and also competed at the NCAA East Regional.
To qualify for the USTFCCCA All-Academic Track and Field Team, the student-athlete must have compiled a cumulative grade point average of 3.25 and must have participated in any round of the NCAA Division I Championships (including preliminary rounds).
