CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The University of New Hampshire men’s track and field team was picked to finished second at the 2010 America East Men’s Outdoor Track and Field Championship according to a vote by the conference’s head coaches.
New Hampshire, which hosts the America East Championship at the Reggie F. Atkins Track on May 1-2, grabbed one first-place vote and totaled 54 points, while the University at Albany was selected as the preseason favorite to win the event as it received eight first-place votes and tallied 64 points.
The Wildcats, who finished second at last year’s outdoor championship, finished fourth at this season’s indoor championship, one point ahead of Boston U. Junior Brice Paey (Milton, N.H.) captured another shot put title this past indoor season, breaking his own America East indoor record in the process. Paey hopes to capture a third outdoor shot put title this spring. The squad will also gain the help of distance runners, including graduate student Nick Decrescenzo (New Milford, Conn.) and junior Wesley Dinnan (Juneau, Alaska), during the outdoor season. Decrescenzo and Dinnan went 1-2 in the 10,000 meters run last spring.
The Wildcats return to action Saturday, March 27 at noon when they take on the University of Maine at the Beckett Track & Field Complex.
