BOSTON - Senior Paul DeTurk (Durham, N.H.) and sophomore Bill Godfrey (Merrimack, N.H.) each recorded victories to lead the University of New Hampshire men's indoor track and field team to a first-place finish at the 18-team Boston Indoor Games on Friday at the Reggie Lewis Center.

The Wildcats finished with 95.50 points to edge runner-up Northeastern (90).

DeTurk led a UNH sweep of the top three spots in the weight throw with a toss of 55 feet, 6.50 inches. Graduate student Jeff Kaste (Atkinson, N.H.) placed second with a throw of 55-1.50, while junior John Randall (Boscawen, N.H.) was third at 50-10.

Kaste and Randall finished third and seventh, respectively, in the shot put with marks of 50-5.50 and 46-11.50. Junior Brice Paey (Milton, N.H.) was second at 58-5.75.

Godfrey finished first in the 500 meters in a time of one minute, 5.58 seconds. Classmate Sean Mitchell (Shrewsbury, Mass.) was third at 1:05.85.

Grad student Matt O'Connor (Rhinebeck, N.Y.) ran to a second-place finish in the mile at 4:12.04, just 5.30 behind the winner.

Freshman Victor Adejuyigbe (Penacook, N.H.) sprinted to a fourth-place finish in the 55 meters in 6.59 seconds. Adejuyigbe also placed 23rd in the 200 meters in 23.47 meters.

In the 400 meters, junior Alex Macleod (East Longmeadow, Mass.) finished sixth in a time of 51.49 seconds.

Sophomore Dan Decrescenzo (New Milford, Conn.) crossed the finish line in eighth place at 15:13.24 of the 5000 meters.

The Wildcats' distance medley team of freshman Cory Sinotte (Hooksett, N.H.), junior Chris Janczyk (Bristol, Conn.), freshman Corey Duchemin (Manchester, N.H.) and senior Marc Ouellette (Hopkinton, N.H.) finished third in 10:24.46.

Back in the field, freshman Matthew Guarente (Saugus, Mass.) placed fourth in the high jump with leap of 6-4.00, while classmate Garret Finn (Lebanon, N.H.) was fifth in the triple jump with a mark of 46-3.25.

The Wildcats return to action Saturday, Feb. 6 at the Dartmouth Indoor Classic.
